A Brief History And Tour Of Edgware By Window Cleaners Of London Ncpm247.com

London is a very large city today. There is a great deal of history surrounding London itself, but it is likely that there is even more history in the areas that border the city of London. London is a bustling city, but it is also the primary source of many suburbs that rest on the outskirts of this marvelous city. One suburb that lies just within the borders of London is known as Edgware. A breif history and tour of Edgware in London is provided in the following paragraphs.

This small village area has played an important role throughout history. Today, there is not much more here than houses and shops, but many years ago this area was a primary passageway used by the Romans and residents of the area during the middle ages.

The history of this area is not entirely documented, but there are records of horse races taking place on the location of this village area. Later, the horse racing evolved into a market area. This market area can still be found today on a few days of the week within Edgware.

Even though this area was a bustling area hundreds of years ago as travelers used the roads flowing through the terrain to move around the London area, there was not really any substantial building performed in this area until the Duke of Chandos arrived.

The Duke had amazing plans to build a large palace on the site. It was recorded that the palace cost in excess of 250,000 pounds at the time, which would have been a very considerable sum for this time period. This palace has gained most of its recognition through its relations to a famous musician known as Handel.

It is said that Handel composed the majority of his music while performing his duties as the chapel master. It is likely that, during the time Handel was the chapel master to the Duke, that he developed a great deal of his knowledge and skills. This is also around the time when Handel came up with his now famous musical suite, the Harmonious Blacksmith.

There are a number of different stories that have been developed around the origination of this musical piece, but many people believe that Handel was inspired by a blacksmith in the area. As Handel sheltered himself from a storm, he listened to a blacksmith perform his work. As he listened, he was inspired to create a suite based on the harmony and consistency of the work being performed, now known as the Harmonious Blacksmith.

Even though the palace was quite beautiful and splendid, it was eventually destroyed. In its place, a church was later built. St. Margaret's church is one of the only ancient structures still standing. You can actually visit this church today. There are even still sermons being held within the church on a regular basis too.

If you are more interested in visiting Edgware today for its more modern attractions, you will likely want to check out the great shopping and suburban areas. You will likely also want to see Edgware road too. This road contains a great deal of history, but more importantly, this road contains a great deal of cultural diversity, even today.

Whenever you want to travel to the rest of London, you will certainly be able to easily find your way around the city through the use of Edgware tube station. This line transports over 200 million passengers every single year between the suburbs of Edgware and the interior city of London.

Since Edgware is mostly an urban outpost that is used mostly by people for their own personal living space, you are not going to be able to find that many interesting activities and attractions around this area. If you do want to go shopping though, it is likely that you will be able to find what you are looking for within the promenade of shops known as 'the mall' in this area.

The shops may not be significant around Edgware, but the cultural diversity present here may shock some people. There are many people living in these suburbs that are from many different religious and ethnic denominations. This means you can expect to find quite a few interesting people as you are travelling through this outer suburb.

If you truly want to find some entertainment and other activities while you are here, you will likely have to take a short commute into the interior of London, but since Edgware is truly within the outskirts of London, you can count on your trip to be fairly short and pleasant. In summary, Edgware is a very quaint and interesting area that anyone can enjoy. Whether you are looking to meet interesting people, or you simply want to relax in the slower atmosphere of London's outer suburbs, you will be able to find what you are looking for in Edgware. This was only a breif history and tour of Edgware in London, but hopefully it contained enough information to inspire you to take a trip to this pleasant portion of Greater London.
